Leigh Tavaziva, the BBC's Chief Operating Officer, is stepping down as the UK national broadcaster undergoes a period of leadership upheaval. This comes as the third BBC board-level executive to quit in the past four months, following the resignations of Director-General Tim Davie and News Chief Deborah Turness over a controversial Donald Trump edit. Tavaziva has worked at the BBC for the past five years, earning nearly £470,000 ($624,000). She has decided to leave in September to pursue new opportunities, citing the privilege and honor of working for an organization that matters so much. She will work closely with interim Director-General Rhodri Talfan Davies to ensure a smooth transition and support the new director-general. Tavaziva also announced the creation of a new unit, BBC Media Tech, which will unite product and technology teams with tech and product colleagues from BBC Studios. This unit is part of Project Ada, a BBC plan to save at least £100M ($132M) by outsourcing non-content jobs to private sector companies, potentially including HR, finance, legal, and operations.
