The title for the next Black Panther film has allegedly been revealed, and it carries some serious implications for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The third installment, tentatively titled 'Shadows of Wakanda', delves into the political and social turmoil that Wakanda faces after the death of Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa. This film will also solidify Letitia Wright's Shuri as a pivotal figure in Wakanda's leadership, not just as a warrior.
Black Panther's journey in the MCU began with Chadwick Boseman's debut in 2016's Captain America: Civil War. However, it wasn't until two years later that the character received his own standalone film. Following Boseman's tragic passing in 2020, Letitia Wright took on the role in 2022's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, where she assumed her brother's mantle and battled the formidable Namor, portrayed by Tenoch Huerta. Just two months after the release of 'Wakanda Forever', the third film's development was confirmed, with production commencing shortly after.
Fans have been speculating about the possibility of Damson Idris, known for his roles in Snowfall and F1, stepping into the role of the Black Panther. The rumors intensified when Idris was seen alongside Black Panther star Angela Bassett, who donned an outfit reminiscent of Queen Ramonda's attire. While there's no concrete evidence linking Idris to the third film, many outlets and fans have suggested that the young Prince T'Challa, son of T'Challa and Lupita Nyongo's Nakia, might be aged up for the next installment.

In the lead-up to the release of Marvel Zombies, series creator and showrunner Bryan Andrews discussed the iconic sequence featuring a silent T'Challa standing against the zombified, Infinity Gauntlet-wielding Thanos. Andrews emphasized the impact of Boseman's absence, stating that the choices made would have been different with him. He also hinted at the potential for a spin-off show featuring Boseman's character, Star-Lord T'Challa, before the zombie storyline was conceived. Executive producer Brad Winderbaum confirmed that the team sought Ryan Coogler's input, as he is the one who knows the MCU's Black Panther best, to ensure a fitting tribute to Boseman.
Black Panther 3 currently has no release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project.
