Blues 3-2 Blackhawks: A Tight Win Worth Watching

St. Louis edged Chicago 3-2, with both teams trading momentum in a game that showcased timely scoring and standout goaltending. Logan Mailloux and Matt Luff each notched their first goals of the season, giving the Blues a lift, while Justin Faulk also found the net and Robert Thomas earned two assists. Joel Hofer bottled up the Blackhawks with 27 saves, helping St. Louis extend its pace to three wins in five games.

Chicago countered with goals from Wyatt Kaiser and Andre Burakovsky, and Connor Bedard added two assists to keep the pressure on. Spencer Knight stopped 23 shots in a losing effort, as the Blackhawks dropped their third defeat in four games.

Key moments included Mailloux opening the scoring 3:41 into the first period with a wrister, and later engaging in his first NHL fight against Colton Dach. With Hofer pulled for an extra attacker late in the game, Mailloux gathered a pass from Thomas in the left circle and beat Knight on the glove side for what stood as the decisive goal, his third career tally since joining the Blues via offseason trade.

The first period momentum swung when Luff fired from the slot to put St. Louis up 2-0 with 8:12 remaining. Kaiser trimmed the deficit to 2-1 at 15:50 after Bedard drew multiple defenders to the front of the net, freeing Kaiser for a powerful shot. Faulk added the insurance marker late in the second, banking it in off Knight after pinching in and finding a momentary lapse in coverage.

Chicago briefly crept closer in the third, but Burakovsky’s late tally proved to be their last best chance as the Blues tightened defensively. Knight was pulled for an extra skater with just over two minutes remaining, yet Chicago could not muster a shot on goal in that stretch.
