DMV Series Premiere RECAP! Is Harriet Dyer & Tim Meadows' Comedy Worth Watching? (2025)

Get ready for a wild ride as we dive into the world of CBS' new comedy series, 'DMV'! This show is not your typical workplace sitcom, and it's about to take you on a hilarious journey.

A 22-minute escape from reality? That's what we wish for when we think of the DMV, right? But this show turns that notion on its head.

'DMV' follows the lives of employees at an East Hollywood DMV office, where the staff is as colorful as the characters they serve. Our lead, Colette (played by the talented Harriet Dyer), is a driving examiner with a unique perspective on life. She has a heart of gold, but her personal boundaries could use some work, which leads to some cringe-worthy moments.

Colette is joined by Gregg, a former English teacher turned misanthrope, and Vic, a former bouncer who loves to put unruly drivers in their place. Their boss, Barbara, recently promoted, sometimes struggles to keep up with the demands of her new role.

The pilot episode sets the stage for a potential government shutdown, which could mean the end of their beloved DMV branch. With consultants arriving to assess cost-cutting measures, the team is on edge, and Barb is forced to face the truth: one of the four Hollywood DMVs will be fully automated, and it might just be theirs.

But here's where it gets controversial... Colette's crush on her new coworker, Noa, takes center stage. Noa, a charming surfer dude, becomes the object of Colette's affection, leading to some awkward moments. Vic's description of Colette's behavior as "eye-banging" sets the tone for the cringe-fest to come.

Colette's online stalking of Noa's Instagram, her near-death experience with an elderly driver, and her embarrassing moment with a menstrual pad all lead to a desperate attempt to escape via the bathroom window. Of course, she gets stuck, and her attempt to free herself only leads to more laughter as she's discovered by the entire office, including the consultants.

And this is the part most people miss: Barb's sugar-coating of the truth. The consultants are there to potentially shut them down, and they're sticking around for a whole year! Talk about a long, stressful year ahead.

As Colette and her coworkers head out for drinks, she asks them not to embarrass her in front of Noa, completely unaware of the second menstrual pad stuck to her skirt.

So, what do you think? Is 'DMV' a comedy goldmine or a cringe-worthy disaster? Grade the premiere and let us know your thoughts in the comments! We want to hear your opinions and start a discussion about this unique show.
