Good news for Malaysia's economy! The manufacturing sector is showing some serious strength, with sales figures on the rise. Let's dive into the details.
According to official data released on Friday, Malaysia's manufacturing sector saw a 3.5 percent increase in sales during the third quarter of 2025. This translates to a whopping 500.1 billion ringgit, which is roughly equivalent to 119.7 billion U.S. dollars. That's a significant boost!
The Department of Statistics Malaysia highlighted that this positive trend was largely driven by two key sub-sectors. The food, beverages & tobacco sub-sector experienced a notable 9.2 percent increase, while the electrical & electronics products sub-sector saw a 5.6 percent rise. These sectors are clearly leading the charge.
But that's not all! The manufacturing sector also saw an increase in employment and wages. The number of employees rose by 1 percent, and salaries and wages increased by 2 percent during the quarter. This indicates a positive impact on the workforce as well.
Looking at the bigger picture, from January to September 2025, the cumulative sales for the manufacturing sector reached 1.5 trillion ringgit, marking a 3.6 percent growth compared to the same period in 2024.
Focusing on the month of September alone, Malaysia's manufacturing sales expanded by 4.3 percent, reaching 169.3 billion ringgit. The food, beverages, and tobacco sub-sector continued to be a major contributor, growing by 9.1 percent in September.
