Team Visma | Lease a Bike's Spring Strategy: Missing Classics, But Not Missing Out
Team Visma | Lease a Bike has been making strategic decisions based on performance and rider availability, resulting in fewer race days in 2025. The team has now revealed their spring classics strategy, which includes skipping two major events: the Ronde van Brugge and De Brabantse Pijl.
The surprise comes with De Brabantse Pijl, as it's not a World Tour event, and the team could have taken part with its development squad. Last year, Wout van Aert impressed with a second-place finish, but this year, he won't be returning. The Ronde van Brugge, previously known as the Classic Brugge - De Panne, presents an opportunity for Matthew Brennan, a sprinter who thrives in the strong winds typical of the region. This World Tour event, while relatively new, isn't mandatory for top-tier teams.
However, the team isn't missing out on all classics. Despite recent injuries and illnesses, they'll still be competing in other races. Wout van Aert, Matthew Brennan, and Christophe Laporte will take on Omloop het Nieuwsblad, with Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne and Le Samyn on the agenda for Brennan and van Aert, respectively. The team's focus shifts to Paris-Nice, where Jonas Vingegaard will return to racing, marking a brighter March ahead.
